Butcher Block Countertops
Butcher blocks can be constructed with three main orientations: edge grain, end grain, and face grain. Edge grain is the most common, with wood strips glued edge-to-edge, showing the long grain pattern. End grain uses short pieces of wood cut at the end, showing the circular rings, and is known for its durability and gentleness on knives. Face grain (aka Wide Plank) features wide planks of wood, glued edge-to-edge.
